Play Klondike Solitaire free
Klondike is the solitaire most people mean when they say "solitaire": seven columns, a stock to draw from, and four foundations to build from Ace to King. Play it here free, with no download and no sign-up, on your phone or computer.
How to play Klondike
The goal is to move all 52 cards onto the four foundations at the top right, one pile per suit, in order from Ace up to King.
- Columns: stack cards in descending order and alternating colours, like a black 8 on a red 9. You can move a whole run of face-up cards together.
- Turn cards over: when you move the face-up cards off a face-down card, it turns over.
- Empty columns: only a King (or a run starting with a King) can go into an empty column.
- The stock: tap the stock at the top left to turn over cards onto the waste pile. When it runs out, tap again to turn the waste back over and go through it again.
- Draw 1 or Draw 3: Draw 1 turns over one card at a time and is easier. Draw 3 turns over three, and you can only play the top one, which is the classic, harder game. Switch in the menu.
Controls
Drag a card to move it, or just tap it and it jumps to the best place it can go. Cards that can safely go up to the foundations go there by themselves (you can turn that off in the menu). Use Undo as often as you like, and Hint when you're stuck (a short ad unlocks three hints). On a keyboard: N for a new game, Ctrl+Z to undo, H for a hint and Space to draw.
The daily deal
Every day there's one deal that's the same for everyone. Solve it fast for a gold coin, a little slower for silver, or anytime for copper, then share your time. Your daily streak grows each day you solve it.
Klondike tips
- Turn over face-down cards first: moves that reveal a card are almost always the best ones.
- Don't empty a column unless you have a King ready to fill it.
- Be careful moving cards up to the foundations too early: a low card in a column can be what you need to move something else.
- In Draw 3, think about which card the next draw will show before you play from the waste.
Questions
Is this solitaire free?
Yes. Hiro Solitaire is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account needed. Signing in only saves your stats to your account.
What is the difference between Draw 1 and Draw 3?
Draw 1 turns over one card from the stock at a time, so you see every card on each pass and more games can be won. Draw 3 turns over three at a time and only the top one can be played, which makes it harder.
Can every game of Klondike be won?
No. Some deals can't be solved however you play them. Most Draw 1 deals can be won with careful play; Draw 3 wins less often.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The table resizes for phones and tablets, you can tap cards to move them, and your game in progress is kept if you leave and come back.
