Play FreeCell free
FreeCell deals every card face up, so it is all skill and almost no luck. Use four free cells to shuffle cards around and build each suit from Ace to King. Nearly every deal can be won.
How to play FreeCell
- Goal: move all 52 cards onto the four foundations, one per suit, from Ace to King.
- Columns: build down in alternating colours, like a red 5 on a black 6.
- Free cells: the four cells at the top left each hold one card while you dig for the cards you need.
- Empty columns: any card can go into an empty column.
- Moving runs: you can move several cards at once if there are enough empty free cells and columns to do it one card at a time. The game works out the most you can move.
Controls
Drag cards, or tap a card to send it to the foundation, the best column or a free cell. Cards nothing else needs go up to the foundations by themselves (turn this off in the menu). Undo is unlimited and Hint shows a good move (a short ad unlocks three). Keyboard: N new game, Ctrl+Z undo, H hint.
The daily deal
One FreeCell deal a day, the same for everyone. Solve it for a gold, silver or copper coin depending on your time, keep your daily streak going and share your result.
FreeCell tips
- Free the Aces and twos early: they're usually buried, and every one you release opens up the board.
- Keep free cells empty. Each full cell halves the number of cards you can move at once.
- An empty column is worth more than a free cell: it doubles how many cards you can move.
- Plan a few moves ahead before filling the last free cell.
Questions
Can every FreeCell game be won?
Almost. In the original set of 32,000 numbered deals only one could not be solved. With careful play, nearly every deal you get can be won.
Is FreeCell free to play here?
Yes. It's free in your browser, with no download and no account needed.
How many cards can I move at once?
One more than the number of empty free cells, doubled for each empty column (not counting a column you're moving into).
What are free cells?
The four spaces at the top left. Each holds one card of any kind, so you can move cards out of the way.
